As a tech support guy with over 100 users, I must tell you to don't trust SSD when it comes to reliability. When conventional HDs go, they give a lot of warning signs at first. Occasional read and write errors, the occasional corrupted file, etc. And they do that for quite a while before they fully die. That gives the user plenty of time to back-up the files in it, and replace the drive. SSDs on the other hand give no warning. When they go, it is immediate, and it is terminal. No way to retrieve the data once they are gone.

For speed and battery life, SSD is definitely the way to go. but at least for the time being, I'll stick with old-fashioned HDs for data backups.

I've been using the Wester Digital 2TB drives that plug into my Macbook Pro and I have yet to have a problem. But, this video has perked up my interest in the Samsung T1 drives. I will wait till they come up with the 2TB drive first.
