In January 1978, legendary photographer Gered Mankowitz captured Kate Bush in his Soho studio — rehearsal clothes, distressed boxing canvas backdrop, and raw energy that helped define her early career. One image, rejected in the UK but used in Japan, became infamous as the Kick Inside album cover.

Fast forward to 2026: I’m in Hong Kong, recreating that pivotal shoot with Felicia as our model, echoing Bush’s look while adding modern polish. Using the Hasselblad X2D with the 90mm prime, 135mm f/2.8, and 35–100mm zoom, we explore how classic film aesthetics translate into today’s digital medium format.
