So a Nikon D5200 scores higher than a Phase one P45 or a Canon 1Dx?? Whats the real story here?

The primary use of the DxO rating is to supply fodder for dpreview.com comments. (grin)

Seriously, ratings need to be taken with not a grain, but a ton of salt. Either they are extremely limited, such as DxO, which means that they may be more trustworthy but less widely applicable, or, for example, dpreview.com's number tends to show significant bias towards some features that mean nothing to me.

You mentioned a microphone plug. I never shoot videos with a DSLR, so if the this feature were factored into a rating then it would not reflect how I use my camera.

I understand your comment about ISO performance being labeled "sports". As someone who has shot sports in less than well lit arenas at night, the term makes sense. On the other hand, I can see your point.

I compare 15 filters, with a range of prices from $10 to $360 - and a big variation in build quality, color cast, sharpness and vignetting - it is worth seeing some real world results before buying anything.I compare 15 filters, with a range of prices from $10 to $360 - and a big variation in build quality, color cast, sharpness and vignetting - it is worth seeing some real world results before buying anything.
