Sigma 35mm F1.4 - is it really ALL THAT?

Featured Wednesday, 24 July 2013 23:27

Amazing reviews and worldwide waiting lists - is the hype justified?

Includes full specs, handling, 100% crops, flare, bokeh and sharpness tests - compared to the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 zoom lens.

Hello Matt, I actually own the Sigma 35 f1.4 Art since August 2014. And yes I can confirm your review results. Especially when using it for landscape with focus on infinity I was wondering why the background is not that crisp and sharp as it is when using it for near objects. But when I focussed manually It worked just perfect. So after testing around a bit I calibrated the lens from near to infinity focus with the USB Dock and Sigma Optimization Pro Software. I found out that the lens has a small front focus (correction +1) in the near and a significant backfocus at infinity beginning at a ~1,5 m object distance (correction -6). After correcting it I am very happy with it. Bye the way I really like your reviews and cannot wait for your review on the new Nikon 300 f4 PF (perhaps my next travel tele).
