My name is Bernhard and I´m from Bavaria (Germany).
Around 2000 I started Digital Photography with a Sony Cybershot 505, coming from the old film.
Before a girlfriend in my younger days studied in Munich and she needed to have a camera.
That was the start for my passion but it became more serious after starting to shoot with DSLRs.
My first one was the Olympus E-1 in 2005 (and a lot of Olympus Pro Grade lenses and Bodies come and go).
I now shoot mainly landscapes, people (also weddings) and some macro work - but the biggest thing which prevents me in shooting more is "time".
As I have two young kids, a full time job and a wife :-) the free time to do shooting is much less then I wanted. Thats why I shoot my kids a lot more then others.
I made the switch to Canon in 2007. Starting with the odyssey of the 1d Mark III (from Canon replaced) which I still own - and which is tweaked from "Nightshot" who removed the AA Filter from that Camera.
Now I own as my main work horse a 5d Mark III with the new 24-70 2,8 L II. That is the allround machine. For portraiture I own the 85mm 1,2 L II which is fantastic and I love so much and the 50mm 1,4. To do Macro I use the 100mm 2,8 L IS.
Also a big winner in my bag is the 24mm TS-E II and the 14mm 2,8 II. Both I use for architecture and also for weddings. For weddings also the 24mm 1,4 L II is very useful (besides the 85mm). On my 1d Mark III the 70-200 2,8 IS L is always adapted if I need more reach.
Besides the big boys I own the Olympus OM-D with Panasonic 20mm 1,7 and the Zuiko 45mm 1,8 to travel light if this is needed. The OM-D is also one of my favorites to shoot people at a wedding because no one is afraid of that tiny camera and all are thinking that is still analog :-)
What it makes so useful is the AF which automatically focusses on the eyes and I do not have to hunt around the focus point. For that kind of portraits (at the party or dinner) this is really handy.
I own also a lot of accessories (flashes / also studio flashes, extension tube, California Sun Bouncers, tripod with ball head and also gear head for architecture) which I need for serious work.
Thats it.
