Hi, my name is Jo Caudron, living near Aalst in Belgium.
I'm a hobby photographer, no professional in any way (or I would like to be :-))
So I will give you a quick tour on in my bag:
Bag itself is a Lowepro Slingshot model (202 black with AllWeather cloth)
Inside my bag I have a Nikon D7000 (you cannot beat price performance in my opinion).
My pieces of glass:
AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3,5-5,6G ED with Hoya Pro1 Digital UV filter - is the kitlens I bought with the D7000. Used this one all the time before I bought the 24-70, very versatile, great quality.
AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8 - not in the picture, lend to my dad for the moment. Was keen to know what a prime lens did for me, I love the bokeh of that thing and great for portriat and low light situations.
AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4,5-5,6G ED VR with Tiffen UV Protector filter - second lens I bought, every nice for shooting animals and fill the frame or to take candits of people and totally isolating them from the background
AF-S Nikkor 1:2,8 G ED with Hoya Pro1 Digital UV filter - my latest addition and I have to say, Matt wasn't lieing about the quality in his reviews, superb glass, has not come of my body since 5 weeks now (date of purchase :-))
Light:
Nikon Speedlight SB-900 - bought this guy second hand for a good price - amazing! Shooting also off camera with this baby and I have to say does everything you ever need (I know, it overheats quickly, but of my use, more than sufficiant)
Accessories:
Kenko Extension tubes (12mm, 20mm and 36mm), are still able to auto focus and meter light - need to experiment with those more to really get everything out of them - experiencing very shallow DOF
BlackRapid RS Sports strap - before had the RS7 - but was not for me, hurted my neck, this was (with a curve) works for me!
Have also a very cheap Manfrotto Tripod (don't know the exact model - my dad has this one for the moment) does it for me, don't need it that often.
Have also bought Lastolite lumen8 f400 flashes with stands and shoot-through umbrellas for some home/studio shoots (very good price for the amount of gear!)
Next on my list are some wireless flash triggers (thinking to buy Phottix Stratos II) and if my bank allows it the also very nice AF-S Nikkor 70-200 VRII (maybe next New Year present to myself).
Hey, hope you enjoyed it, and drop me a line on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. is you have questions, remarks of knowledge you like to share!
Matt, you are doing a fantastic job with your site and youtube channel(s), sad that you are living the other part of the globe.
