I am a amateur photographer from Denmark. I have a very minimalistic approach to photography, and often don't want to haul a lot of gear. In terms of equipment, I love and use both old film cameras, big DSLR's, as well as my mobile phone. With my phone and my tablet, I enjoy shooting on the way to school, work etc. I use Snapseed on my tablet for editing my images from my phone. It's a joy to use and almost only beaten by the joy of shooting film. I shoot primarily landscapes, street shooting, evironmental portraiture, travel etc.
When I wan't to be a bit more serious than snapping away with my phone, I grab my Nikon FA and my Nikon FE. One body loaded with 50 or 100 speed slide film, for great, sharp and vivid images. The other body loaded with 400 speed print or b/w film pushed to 1600, for when the light levels gets low. I like shooting with small film cameras, because I feel free and love the excitement of waiting for my pictures to be developed. I can't chimp, fiddle with menus and don't carry a lot of weight, so I enjoy my trips a lot more.
The lenses I use, are a 35mm f/2 and a 75-150mm f/3.5. They are light weight, quite sharp and very usable focal lengths. Some times I throw in a 20mm for wider shots. I like the 35mm f/2 for the ability to throw the background fairly out of focus, and get some separation between the background and the subject. The wide focal lengths appeal to me, because I like to include the subject in its environment, and get up close and personal. I use the tele, when I want the compression or to isolate and separate a subject in a busy street scene. With the tele I can create some very minimalistic compressed landscape shots as well.
The bag I like to use is a standard messenger bag, with a home made insert for my camera and lenses. I don't like a bag that screams camera bag. Simple equipment but endless possibilites and great images.
