In 2018 I stopped by the same temple, hoping to see him again, and we found he had moved into town. I explain the rest of the story in video, but long story short, I was really glad to hear his mum had taken steps to get him a full education - despite the difficulty and cost of moving to the larger town.
Via my guide and local contacts, I offered to help them with the costs, to give them a comfortable life, and to make sure he can have a full education until he is old enough to choose for himself - whether to continue to university, or return to become a monk/lama.
