Blackmagic's disk speed test offers a minimum file size of 1GB and goes all the way up to 5GB, so those files are definitely leaving the cache and being written to disk.

The whole point of this tool is to check if your storage is fast enough to edit HD and Ultra HD footage from Blackmagic's Cinema cameras which themselves use off the shelf SSDs for internal storage because SD and CF cards simply aren't fast enough. Only measuring the transfer rate to the hard drive's cache would entirely defeat the purpose of this benchmarking software.
