Best Portrait lens? 85mm vs 70-200mm

Featured Thursday, 09 October 2014 11:22

What should you buy? Which is best for portraiture?

If you own a 70-200mm, is it worth getting an 85mm f1.4 or 1.2 prime? Is there much difference in BOKEH?

Here is a question, what would you rather have during a 2-3 hour portrait shoot? I'll take the nice and light 85mm any day.

The correct answer is both… plus the Nikkor 200mm ƒ2.0

I wonder why the EF 135mm f2.0 L does not get more attention here. It's a practical and very sharp portrait lens with the shortest minimal focus at 0.9m.

I'll take the 70-200 and Tina as the model.

I recommend both. The Nikkor 85 f 1.4 G is absolutely amazing on D800 E. The Nikkor 70 -200 f 2.8 G is not even in the same universe as the prime.

I'll take Tina, turn my 70mm into 200mm and forget about the portrait session
